Brasher: Scaling the Heights of Success
Olympic gold medallist Chris Brasher was pace-maker for sprinter Roger Bannister during the first four-minute mile in 1954.
Years later, walking in Wales in a pair of boots that had caused severe blisters, he posted them back home, continued his journey in his old trainers, and vowed to design his own perfect walking boot.
Based on the premise that an old pair of running shoes had proved to be far less painful than his own trusty walking boots, Brasher developed the original Hillmaster, combining the comfort of trainers with the practicalities of stout walking footwear.
The thinking behind it – and its founder’s enduring legacy – is still at the heart of one of the company’s most popular models today.
Brasher are now among the UK’s most recognised boot brands, and have scaled the heights of success in helping thousands of walking and hiking enthusiasts enjoy life in the great outdoors.
