The Scarpa Manta is a classic - and has just lost weight!
This is the latest version, updated and made lighter than previous models due to a new Vibram sole unit, which has enabled the specialist bootmakers in Italy to reduce the weight by a staggering amount.
Scarpa have also been able to add a generous rubber rand, which adds protection and abrasion resistance.
Ideally suited to hill, mountain and glacier walking on rugged terrain, and the occasional easier Alpine and UK winter climb, the Manta excels in winter walking, where crampons are used for extended periods.

The Scarpa Story
A company whose origins began with an English nobleman in Italy has gone on to become a family-run firm renowned for some of the most well-made, classic hiking boots in the world.
Today, skilled artisans in Montebelluna in north east Italy continue a heritage that began nearly 75 years ago, when the Societ Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima was born – more commonly known as Scarpa and which translates into English as the Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo Mountains.
Spearheaded in the 1940s by young Luigi Parisotto, who learned his trade from the age of just 11 under the tutorship of master craftsmen, Scarpa have gone from strength to strength since the days when local landowner Lord Rupert Iveagh began the business simply to bring native leather-processing skills to a wider audience.
From producing a mere four or five pairs of boots for local farm folk each gruelling, 14-hour day, Scarpa are now trusted by customers all over the world. By combining a history of valued tradition with modern, cutting edge technology, they have brought one of the most copied and sought-after ranges of outdoor footwear and climbing shoes to the international market.
