The Rab Travelite 300 is a dedicated, down filled travel bag that’s both light weight and versatile. It’s designed for use in hot countries when travelling, hostelling or backpacking, and I was able to use one on a recent trip to Malawi in Africa. One of these bags would also be appropriate for summer backpacking in Europe. If considerations such as weight and versatility are important to you, then a Travelite 300 is a bag worth giving serious consideration too. Full length ‘L’ shaped zips mean that it converts for use as a quilt and also zips together with another Travelite 300 bag for couples wanting to be especially cosy! The outer is made from Hydralite with a DWR finish, which helps to keep the bag clean. The inner is made from polyester that is described as ‘a soft and comfortable’. Yes, it is soft but I didn’t entirely get on with it, and found the liner had a tenancy to become hot and sweaty where you were lying on it, even when the temperature was cool. In a rather unscientific and anecdotal experience I would recommend this sleeping down to about 0 degree C with the addition of a few extra layers but certain no lower if you want to stay warm. On the whole this is a quality sleeping bag, especially for a backpacker who deems weight an important issue.
