Hi-Tec, based in the appropriately-named Essex village of Shoeburyness, are world-famous for their hiking boots, sports shoes and snow boots.

Their first successful foray into the sports shoe industry in the 1970s saw the development of a dedicated shoe for the then fast-growing game of squash – which to date has sold more than 18 million pairs and is still a best-seller in over 80 countries.

Durable, functional hiking boots and walking shoes followed, and the company’s rapid rise and development on the world stage was such a success it led them to becoming a casebook study at the Harvard Business School.
