Black Diamond

Black Diamond’s designers find their ideas from all corners of the world – but they are tried and tested on their own doorstep in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah.
Formed by a company buyout over 20 years ago, Black Diamond have only one objective – to produce the very best climbing and mountaineering gear imaginable.
Their renowned equipment includes products for climbing, skiing and mountain sports.
Black Diamond's forerunner was climber Yvon Chouinard, who began hand-forging climbing pitons and selling them from the trunk of his car in California's Yosemite Valley in the 1950s.
Chouinard’s early endeavours quickly gained a reputation for craftsmanship - a reputation that lives on today in Black Diamond, manned by climbers and back country skiers dedicated to their cause and renowned for the highest-quality carabiners, belay devices and harnesses.
Their success in the climbing world has led the company to the accolade of being crowned America’s Entrepreneurs of the Year, one of the country’s top business honours.
