Gear-Zone Guide to The North Face Nuptse

Baffled by the differences between The North Face Nuptse and the Nuptse 2?
It’s understandable – because the difference lies in…the baffles!
The Nuptse is one of the best down garments on the market today, a classic, high-loft, 700 fill goosedown jacket that wraps you in instant warmth and comfort to battle the harshest of conditions. In its latest reincarnation, the Nuptse 2 has two extra rows of baffles to better distribute the down, eliminating cold spots in the process to make it even cosier in the extreme cold.

The highest-quality Hungarian goose down is used in all Nuptse jackets and bodywarmer vests, giving a high warmth-to-weight ratio and compressibility.
The legendary Nuptse and Nuptse 2 both pack down small enough to stow into their own internal pockets – with the Nuptse 2 having the edge when it comes to weight, at 100g lighter than its predecessor.
Elastic cuffs on the Nuptse 2 jacket also have an advantage over the original’s Velcro-adjusted tabs.
Key features of both are double-layered shoulders for extra warmth and added durability – either on the ski slopes or when carrying a rucksack – along with a taffeta emergency hood, and a hem cinch cord to provide an even greater customised fit to protect you from the cold.
If you’re looking for serious mountain clothing, you won’t go far wrong with The North Face Nuptse, available from Gear-Zone in both its original and updated forms, and with jackets and bodywarmer vests designed specifically for men and women.
The new Nuptse 2 from The North Face has limited distribution, and is sold exclusively through independent retailers.
