A Feast of Football in Store

Posted by Nicki | May 17, 2012

It’s countdown time to the 2012 Euros, with a feast of football in store as the battle for European supremacy on the pitch gets underway in Poland and Ukraine.

The14th championships amongst Europe’s elite begin on June 8th, with England, France, Ukraine and Sweden drawn to meet in the group stages.

The official match football this time round will be the Adidas Tango 12, a reincarnation of the Tango Durlast which became famous during the 1978 world cup in Argentina.

Based on this classic, traditional design, the Euro 2012 matchball will feature the emblazoned flags of host nations Poland and Ukraine, while - for the more technically minded - the Tango 12 will be made up of a series of triangular panels, thermally bonded together to ensure a true, stable flight path.

Adidas TangoGrip texture covering, it is said, will enhance ball control.

Geared Up To Go

England’s last group match is on June 19th against Ukraine, when – hopefully – the final on July 1st will be firmly in their sights.

Here at Gear-Zone we’re geared up to go for a summer of frantic sporting activity on the football field, with Euro 2012 hotly followed by Team GB facing the best in the world at the London Olympics.

The official Olympic football is known as the Albert - named after the Albert Hall in cockney rhyming slang - with a white, pink and blue design based around the official London Olympics logo.

FIFA approved with the highest rating for weight, water uptake, shape and size retention, replica Alberts include the Olympic 2012 Top Glide, and the Olympic 2012 Top Replica.

Gear-Zone’s selection of Adidas footballs also includes the Starlancer III in a choice of stand-out High Energy and Black Warning colourways, and the Euro 2012 Glider and Predator Europa League Capitano.

We also stock a range of Nike, Mitre and Puma balls, including the Nike Mercurial Fade and Mercurial Skills, the Mitre Ultimatch and Impel, and Puma’s Powercat and Cat Force.
