Cricket Bags at Gear-Zone

Cricket has arrived at Gear-Zone….with Kookaburra, Gunn & Moore and Puma heading the list for cricket bats, batting and wicket keeping gloves, pads and helmets, clothing for adults and juniors, and a whole host of accessories.

From Kookaburra we have the Recoil, Rogue and Kahuna series of cricket bats, and Gunn & Moore highlights include the Epic, Luna and Icon.

A selection from Puma’s classic Cobalt and Calibre range will be coming soon.

Our choice of bats for younger players includes those for children as young as four, right up to the ‘Harrow’ 32 ¾” for 12 - 14-year-olds.

Younger Cricketers

Choosing the correct size bat is vital for the development of young cricketers.

It is important that the bat is not too long, and essential that it is not too heavy, which can hinder correct stroke play and good technique.

Junior bats are scaled down in size and weight accordingly.

The weight can depend on whether the bat is made from English or Kashmir willow - it should be remembered that Kashmir willow tends to be at the heavier end of the scale.

Batting and wicket keeping pads are normally judged by the approximate distance from the middle of the knee cap to the instep, where the tongue of your shoe sits.Cricket Helmets at Gear-Zone

Batting and wicket keeping gloves depend on the distance from the start of the wrist to the tip of the longest finger.

Cricket helmets, as a general rule, provide a good fit if worn with the peak protruding horizontally from the line of the eyebrows.

It should feel firm, with no excessive movement in any direction, while at the same time sitting comfortably. Over time, the internal padding will mould to the shape of your head.

Measure the circumference of the forehead, just above the eyebrows, around the side and just above the ears.
